Pittsburgh Pirates’ player Felipe Vazquez reportedly admitted to authorities that he had sexual contact with a 13-year-old back in 2017. But, authorities are now questioning what really happened after his unique explanation.
According to CNN, Vazquez was arrested Tuesday after admitting he had a sexual encounter with the underage girl. When asked what happened, Vasquez described the situation as “sex but not really”.
According to a Pennsylvania criminal complaint, Vasquez is now facing charges of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and other counts.
The open case stems from an August 2017 encounter with a teenage girl, which happened in his Ford Mustang. Vazquez tells authorities the two got in contact on Instagram, but he initially “refused to communicate with her due to her age.”
Felipe Vazquez reportedly described the encounter as “sex but not really” because “he could not fit his penis entirely into the victim’s vagina,” according to the complaint.
The girl told police that Vazquez gave up, and he left because he had a Pirate’s game that same night. The girl, who is now 15, says she has still be in contact with Vazquez as of July 2019.
The inappropriate relationship was uncovered after the young girl’s mother discovered explicit photos and videos of Vazquez in her phone. She says she saw Vazquez message her daughter saying “I can’t wait to see you doing the off season.”
As of now, Vazquez’ charges in Pennsylvania are lengthy. He is being charges with statutory sexual assault of a person who is under the age of 16 by someone who is at least 11 years older, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a minor by a defendant who is 18 years or older, and indecent assault of a person less then 16 years old.
The first two changes are first-degree felonies.
Vazquez is currently behind bars and has been denied bail. Stay with us as this story continues to develop,
